HAPPY GUESTS MEMORIES
I have just returned from a week at Casa Bezzia on a painting holiday.
It has been a wonderful week. Sylvia our hostess has given us a truly authentic Bardi experience. I found myself waking up each morning excited for the day ahead, everyday was different. Sylvia with her local knowledge organised visits to the parmesan cheese farm, an Italian cookery demo evening at her home, and picked some great local restuarants for some of our meals out. Eating out was very traditional, not many tourists in this area. We were a great group and got on so well.
Casa Bezzia is comfortable and in a peaceful and beautiful location, opening the shutters in the morning was a treat to enjoy the mountain views. The studio is well equipped and light and I enjoyed browsing through some of her art books.
Karen our teacher demonstrated techniques and was always on hand to answer questions and offer a little encouragement if needed. I feel I have grown in confidence with my drawing, my use of colour and I have freed up…..a work in progress!
It was my first painting holiday and I went on my own, I did not know what to expect. It exceeded my expectations, I had a wonderful time.
That was a special week!
I've trvelled quite a bit in Italy... Sicily, Calabria, Puglia, Rome, Venice, The Lakes and Sardinia and have boarded ferries from Brindisi, all part of wanderful holiday experiences over what are now, too many decades. My week with you, however, was one of the best.
I fell in love with Bardi the landscapes woods, pastures, mountanins, streams, stags, boars, castle, everithing in fact! Your hospitality was exemplary as was the food.
Thank you for a memorable week and all your kindness.
You have a lovely home. Thak you for sharing.
It's been a great week. With love.
Many thanks Sylvia for your hospitality. A great week!
This was my first painting holiday and came up to all my expectations.
It was a magical experience, the venue perfect: a new area of Italy for me (relatively untouched by tourism).
I appreciate all the affort and thought you put into it.
The Surroundings
The Surroundings
I would very much like to welcome you to this unspoilt undiscovered corner of Northen Italy. Bardi elevation 525 meters: 45 minutes from the cultural city of Parma an area famed for its cheese (Parmesan) and pork (Parma ham). Parma is also home to musical composers G. Verdi and A. Toscanini
The House
A rustic stone building on three floors. Built in the late 1800 century. I’ve design the rooms to be as comfortable as possible. Some people would call it shabby chic. It has all the modern conveniences however one has to remember we are in a quiet mountain hamlet. Outdoors I have created small relaxing areas with garden furniture, hammocks and weather permitting a dining table. For the book worms amongst you I have a small paperback library.
